1. How do I file a complaint against a Forester?
The complaint form can be found on the board's website. You will be required to submit all supporting documentation to the board within 30 days of filing the complaint online.

2. What supporting documentation do I need to send?
Examples of supporting documents that the complaint committee will need to fully evaluate your complaint are as follows:

  • A detailed explanation of your complaint (who, what, when, where and why) to include specific allegations against the forester involved.
  • Copies of any e-mails or correspondence between you and the forester or any other documents or information that you may think are important for the board to consider.

3. Where do I send the supporting documentation?
You may send supporting documentation to the board via email at DLOPLForester-LABOR@maryland.gov, or hard copies can be sent to the board at:

Maryland Board of Foresters Attn: Complaints
1100 N. Eutaw St
Room 121
Baltimore, MD 21201

4. What happens once the forester responds to the complaint?
Once the forester responds to the complaint, the investigator will begin an investigation to determine whether there is enough evidence to support the complaint.

5. What is the complaint process?

  1. Complaints are reviewed to determine whether the complaint falls within the jurisdiction of the board. If the board has jurisdiction, a notice of complaint is sent to the forester with a request to respond to the board within 30 days.
  2. The board’s complaint committee reviews the issues identified in the complaint, the forester’s response, and the rules and regulations of the board.
  3. If the complaint committee determines that a violation may have occurred, the facts are reviewed by the Maryland Office of the Attorney General to determine whether sufficient evidence exists to proceed with a formal hearing. When the facts do not support a violation, a case is closed.
  4. If the Office of the Attorney General determines sufficient evidence exists, the board may reprimand, suspend, revoke and/or fine a licensee. The board, however, does not have the authority to order monetary awards to consumers.

6. Is there a statute of limitations on filing a complaint against a forester?
No, there is not. You may file a complaint online.
