Community Guidelines
We appreciate comments and questions from Marylanders who are interested in MD Labor programs and services. To ensure MD Labor’s social media presence enables civil discourse and protects the personal information of Marylanders, we ask that anyone commenting on content posted through MD Labor’s social media accounts follow our community guidelines.
- Protect yourself and others: Please avoid sharing personal information such as phone numbers, email addresses, social security numbers, case numbers, employment details or any other sensitive personal data in your comments.
- Keep comments relevant: We encourage users to keep comments relevant to the topic of the post. Comments that are off-topic, promote sales or services, or are unrelated to the discussion may be subject to moderation or removal in order to preserve a productive and respectful online environment.
- No spam: Comments that appear to be spam, including those that are automated or bot-generated, may be removed to maintain the integrity of discussions.
- Our social media accounts are intended to be safe and welcoming spaces for all Marylanders: Any content that constitutes a true threat, indicating a serious expression of intent to commit an act of unlawful violence, will not be tolerated and will be removed. Additionally, content that is disruptive, includes profanity, obscenity, personal attacks, hate speech, discriminatory language, or is otherwise deemed disrespectful or abusive may be removed.
- No material containing malicious content: Links to malware—including but not limited to viruses, spyware, and adware—are not permitted and will be removed.
MD Labor is not responsible for comments posted by visitors. We reserve the right to remove comments that violate these guidelines and/or applicable laws. Further, we may block users from our social media accounts for severe or pervasive violations of this policy. This policy does not restrict the rights of individuals to express their views on matters of public concern.
Seeking help through social media
MD Labor social media accounts are not designed to accept service requests. MD Labor staff monitor these accounts, but our social media staff do not have 24/7 monitoring capacity and do not have access to all of the information required to resolve questions or concerns related to licenses, unemployment insurance, etc.
If you have a question regarding a particular service or case, please reach out to the applicable office by phone or email. MD Labor will endeavor to provide appropriate staff contact information to members of the public who submit specific questions by direct message on social media, but cannot guarantee that all direct messages will receive a reply. Public comments that focus on specific cases will not likely receive a response by Department staff.
Accessibility
MD Labor is committed to making our social media content accessible to all users, including individuals with disabilities. We use best practices to ensure content is accessible to all persons. If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our social media pages, please contact dlofp-labor@maryland.gov.
Endorsements
