Information & Forms for Underage and/or Homeschool Test Takers - Adult Education and Literacy Services

Test takers must be at least 16 years of age to take the GED Test. Testers under 18 years of age are required to provide documentation indicating their withdrawal status (or homeschool enrollment) from their local school district. The Maryland Department of Labor will accept proof of withdrawal as demonstrated at the time of exit from school through the student’s Maryland Statewide Educational Exit Interview Form. The Maryland Statewide Educational Exit Interview Form may be obtained from the student’s last school attended.

In the event that the Maryland Statewide Educational Exit Interview Form is not available, is not complete, or does not contain a reason for exit in accordance with the Compulsory Attendance Law (Maryland Code, Education § 7–301), students may print out and complete the appropriate forms, as noted below. The GED® School Withdrawal/Exemption Form must be completed by an official at the last regular, full-time public or private school attended. The Home Instruction Verification form must be completed by the Coordinator of Home Instruction or designee.

Visit www.GED.com to create a GED® account before submitting the appropriate form indicating official exit from high school education. Please do NOT create duplicate GED® accounts. Then submit the Maryland Statewide Educational Exit Interview Form or the completed GED® Office School Withdrawal/Exemption Form or Home Instruction Verification Form to the Maryland Department of Labor, Adult Education & Literacy Services (GED®), 100 S. Charles Street, Tower 1, Suite 2000, Baltimore, MD 21201 or by e-mailing the completed form to ged.dllr@maryland.gov.
