Transcript of MOSH Consultation Overview Video - MOSH Training and Education
Spokesperson VO: We all know that every day, illnesses and injuries happen in the workplace, but many of them can be avoided if employers identify and remove the hazards that created them. Using the services of MOSH Consultation Services can help you identify hazards and prevent them from re-occurring.
Hi. Did you know that the average workplace injury can cost a business more than $25,000 in indirect costs alone?
Spokesperson VO: These accidents, and the cost to your business can be avoided if you know the hazards that exist in your workplace. If you are an employer, employee, or just found yourself in charge of your workplace Safety and Health program….a free Maryland Occupational Safety and Health consultation survey can help you create a safer and healthier workplace, and improve your bottom line.
VO: Here is how the consultation survey works. First, you contact us and define the scope of the survey and set up a time that is convenient for you. That's right, we do not show up unannounced, you choose what you want us to survey and when.
Spokesperson VO: Once we are on site there is an opening conference, followed by a walk through of your work place and a closing conference. Once the consultation visit begins you can increase or narrow the scope of the survey. You are with us every step of the way. You play an active role in the survey, and we encourage you to ask questions. Or, if you change your mind during the visit, the consultation survey stops immediately. However, you are still obligated to correct any hazards we observed up to that point.
VO: After the survey is complete we go over every identified hazard with you in our closing conference. But, our work doesn't stop there. We will also show you how to correct the hazards and avoid any potential injuries. Your only obligation for this free service is to remedy identified hazards in an agreed upon amount of time.
VO: The results of the survey stay between you and your consultant. They are not shared with any part of the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Compliance Unit.
Spokesperson: So you may be asking yourself, why should I ask for a free MOSH consultation?
Spokesperson: More and more contracts require a written safety and health program for subcontractors. A MOSH consultation survey will help you when you bid for jobs by demonstrating your initiative and safety record. If you are recognized as a safe company you have a better chance of getting that contract.
You are also setting a standard for the industry to follow while creating a culture of safety in your workplace. This can reduce your MOD rate and increase your profits over time.
When accidents happen everyone pays. A safer workplace decreases direct and indirect costs to your business and keeps your employees working. If employees are safe and happy they are more productive. They create good habits and the job gets done more efficiently. It's a win for everyone involved. Let the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Services help you. It's free and it's a win-win for everyone involved.
