National Forklift Safety Day 2024 - Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH)

National Forklift Safety Day, observed on the second Tuesday in June each year (June 11 this year), is an initiative led by the Industrial Truck Association since 2014 to highlight the importance of safety while using forklifts. Annually between 35,000 and 62,000 injuries involve forklifts, with several cases affecting bystanders or pedestrians. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), over 70% of these accidents could have been prevented.
National Forklift Safety Day is dedicated to ensuring the safety of those involved in manufacturing, operating, and working around forklifts. It serves as an opportunity to emphasize the importance of operator training and pedestrian awareness. On this day, stakeholders and industry experts collaborate to share resources and promote the best safety practices for using this essential equipment.

The eleventh annual National Forklift Safety Day will occur on Tuesday, June 11 at 9:00 a.m. EDT at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The event will be both in-person and virtual option. The event is open to everyone.
