Maryland Department of Labor Initiates Rapid Response Support for Baltimore City Displaced Workers and Affected Businesses
BALTIMORE, MD (May 1, 2015) – Under the leadership of Governor Larry Hogan, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) Kelly M. Schulz today announced the implementation of a Rapid Response Assistance program aimed at serving displaced workers and businesses affected by the recent unrest in Baltimore City.
"Our goal is to be a catalyst for recovery and growth in the City of Baltimore. We have specifically designated staff ready to assist citizens by phone, online and at our Baltimore City American Jobs Centers. We are deploying all our resources to assist Baltimoreans who need immediate access to employment services, unemployment claim information and professional business advice. DLLR is offering assistance to the men and women of Baltimore who count on wages to support their families," said Maryland Department of Labor Secretary Kelly M. Schulz.
Today at DLLR American Jobs Centers, displaced workers can receive guidance regarding unemployment insurance, local and state resources, job placement, and training opportunities. Access to DLLR's Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) employment opportunities database will also help facilitate the re-employment process. Currently, the MWE has 124,758 job opportunities listed across Maryland.
