Maryland Department of Labor Announces Request for Applications to Support Training for Healthcare Workers
New Program to Upskill Healthcare Employees
BALTIMORE, MD (May 18, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Labor today announced the launch of the Career Pathways for Healthcare Workers program. Made possible through legislation passed by the Maryland General Assembly in 2022, the program provides employers with matching grants to support healthcare workers in furthering their training and education. Proposals are due on July 28 and grants will begin on October 1.
“Frontline healthcare workers provide essential services helping our communities stay healthy and safe,” said Maryland Department of Labor Secretary Portia Wu. “The initiative provides resources for these dedicated professionals to pursue continuing education, build their careers, and enhance the healthcare services they deliver.”
Grantees can receive up to $50,000 and utilize the funds for one year after receiving the award. Applicants must partner with a Maryland-based Historically Black College or University or community college to deliver training, and they must commit to providing a wage increase to employees who successfully complete training.
A virtual pre-proposal conference will be held on Tuesday, June 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. For call-in information, please contact the agency’s grant program:
