Carlos Lopez, was disqualified from second position and placed third. Inside the 1/8th pole,
#1 “Ginger Girl” drifted out into the path of #5 “Lovely Liza” ridden by Jevian Toledo, forcing
him to check and alter course, resulting in him getting beat in a close finish.

in a close finish.

#23-109 In the matter of the eleventh race at Laurel Park on October 14, 2023, regarding the Official
result.
On October 15, 203 trainer Jamie Ness filed an appeal with The Maryland Racing Commission
on behalf of owner Gregory A. Gordon. The appeal contests the Stewards’ decision to
disqualify the horse “Market Maven” from first position.
As a result of that appeal, the eleventh race from October 14, 2023 is hereby declared in
dispute and the following ordered to remain in effect until the dispute has been settled by
the Maryland Racing Commission.
- Both “Ain’t Da Beer Cold” and “Market Maven” shall be subject to all penalties attached to the winner of the race. [COMAR 09.10.04.15 A (1)] and
- The purse monies affected by the dispute are to be held by the Horsemen’s Bookkeeper.

held to review the race. The Stewards issued the following penalty.
(1)Mr. Lopez is fined Two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00).
(2)Mr. Lopez is suspended one (1) racing day, October 22, 2023.
